Amy Baumert

Hello! I am an avid home baker and Arizona native, passionate about all things sourdough.

I began baking sourdough bread in 2016 after seeing Michael Pollan’s beautiful Netflix documentary, “Cooked.” I developed my first sourdough starter from scratch, fascinated that everything needed for bread is already present in raw flour and water. I pored over books and websites and finally learned how to coax flour, water, and salt into beautiful, fragrant, light, and crusty loaves of bread. And now I want to pass on my knowledge to you!

I’ve picked up quite a few tips along my journey and my goal is to simplify the process for the beginning baker. I want everyone to have the joy of breathing in the complex aroma of fresh-baked sourdough bread - made by you!

When I’m not covered in flour, rehydrating Turkish figs, or chopping olives, you can find me enjoying life with my 5 children and handsome husband, Michael.
